Welcome to Early Access

Welcome to Early Access! 🎉

We are so happy to have you join us in the term. Early Access is an opportunity for you to review the syllabus and the course modules. This is a great time to plan ahead and see what is expected of you throughout the term.

Here are a few things to keep in mind as you begin looking through your course materials:

  • Review the SyllabusRead over the syllabus carefully and review the learning goals, assignment details, and course outline. Use early access as an opportunity to plan ahead by reviewing the schedule of lectures, readings, and assignments due as listed in the course outline section. It is also to your advantage to review the assignment details in the syllabus and in the Canvas assignment page.
  • Purchase your books. Review the list of books in the syllabus under the "Books to Purchase" heading. Please procure the books as soon as possible so that you are prepared to complete the assignments. The best way to stay current with your reading is to start well and make progress each week. It is incredibly hard to catch up on your reading once you have fallen behind.
  • Visit the course Workplace pageUse the Workplace link to visit the course Workplace group page and say hello to your classmates by posting an introductory video. Your video can be a simple introduction that starts with telling us what name we should call you. Your introduction can also include your program (MAC, MATS, etc.), where you are from or where you are now, and/or a fun fact. Get familiar with the course Workplace group because your Online Instructor will be posting videos and engaging with you and your classmates there.
  • Start thinking about Small Groups. If your course has assigned Small Group meetings, find your Small Group members by going to the "People" section in the course navigation. You can also find your small group by clicking on "Groups" in the left side main navigation as well. Visit the Small Group Information Page (linked here) for further instruction and guidance. Though it is not required, we recommend reaching out to your Small Group members as soon as possible to connect and begin coordinating your group's meeting time. You can create a space for your Small Group to interact by creating a Workplace chat group. Please note, a secure Zoom link is provided for your Small Group in the Course Resource module.
  • Note Major Holidays.  Please make note of any major holidays during the term and plan around these dates. Student Support and Online Instructor response may be limited during these times.

Your instructor may not be responsive during the week of Early Access, but will engage with the course on the first day of the term.

Please know that we are actively praying for you and cheering for your success.  Please feel free to reach out to support@wts.edu with any questions or if you need assistance.

Happy Studies!
