OT 223 Course at a Glance

Old Testament History & Theology II

Lectures By: Dr. Jonathan Gibson

Effective for the Academic Year: 2024-2025

Course Description

The course is designed to help students understand the unfolding story of God's kingdom in the history of Israel from Genesis to the post-exilic period. It will cover books from the three main sections of the OT Canon: Torah (Genesis—Pentateuch); the Prophets (Joshua—Kings, known also as the Former Prophets or the Historical Books); and the Writings (Ruth, Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther). The approach taken will be a redemptive-historical one, in which the history of Israel finds its fulfillment in Christ—the Last Adam, the true Israel, and great David's greater Son. The overarching paradigm of ‘kingdom through covenant' will shape the course material.
