ST 223 Course at a Glance
Doctrine of Christ
Lecturing Faculty: Brian Mattson
Effective for the 2023-2024 Academic Year
Course Description
We will explore what the Scriptures reveal about the person of Jesus Christ: his eternal deity, his incarnation, the personal union of his two natures, his mediatorial offices of Prophet, Priest, and King, and his accomplishment of salvation in the fullness of time by way of his humiliation and exaltation. Moreover, we will study with an eye to how the church came to understand the Scriptures and formulate its later Christological dogma over against a number of early heresies, and in this way obtain critical tools to proclaim and defend biblical, orthodox doctrine in our own day.
