Dining on Campus
Eating Spaces
Please eat! Machen Hall and the Carriage House are buildings that provide places to eat.
Please do not eat in the classrooms. Out of respect for your fellow classmates and your instructors, from whom the Seminary has had abundant feedback that classroom eating compromises classroom learning, the Seminary asks that you abide by this rule. Also, please do not eat in the library or Andreas Academic Center unless, of course, a seminary department is hosting an event which involves food.
Please do not wash food containers or empty anything other than clear liquids in Seminary bathroom drains. Outside of the hygiene concerns of such a practice, Seminary bathroom sinks are not equipped to handle bits of food. Use the sink on the first floor of the Carriage House if you need to rinse food containers or empty beverages other than clear liquids. Even in these drains, please clean food particles out of the drain. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
Use of the Machen Kitchen
Machen kitchen is for the use of Machen Hall residents and seminary employees only. Please use the sink on the first floor of the Carriage House for your kitchen sink needs.
Please do not wash food containers in bathroom sink drains or empty anything other than clear liquids in those drains. Outside of the hygiene concerns of such a practice, the plumbing of Seminary bathroom sinks is not equipped to handle food particles. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter.
Food Storage
The student refrigerator is on the first floor of the Carriage House. Please close refrigerator doors tightly after opening them.
Please take your foodstuffs home at the end of the day. Out of respect to your fellow classmates who also use refrigerator space, do not store food in the refrigerators from one day to the next.
Other alternatives to Seminary refrigerator use is to utilize a lunchbox that keeps items adequately cool throughout the day. In addition, depending on how cold the weather is, you can safely keep your lunch in your vehicle!
